Etymology

Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *bruː, *bruːɡ): semantic 足 (“foot”) + phonetic 包 (OC *pruː). Compare Proto-Loloish *paw¹ (“to flee”) (Schuessler, 2007). The computing sense is a semantic loan from English run.
