Etymology
Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *kʰjol): semantic 火 (“fire”) + abbreviated phonetic 吹 (OC *kʰjol, *kʰjols). From 吹 (OC *kʰjol, “to blow”), as in blowing to get a fire going (Schuessler, 2007).
