Etymology
From 揚子／扬子 (Yángzǐ) (for "Yangzhou" directly or for a nearby ferry named "Yangzi") + 江 (jiāng, “(major) river”). Its false etymology as "Son of the Ocean" stems from the homophonic misnomer 洋子江.
