Etymology
Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *zɯ): phonetic 茲 (OC *ʔsɯ, *zɯ) + semantic 心 (“heart”). From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *mV-dzə. Cognate with Burmese စာ (ca, “to sympathize with”) (Hill, 2019) and Tibetan མཛའ (mdza') (in མཛའ་བ (mdza' ba) etc.).
