Etymology

Simplified from 賓, replacing the bottom component with a phonetic component 兵 (bīng) to form a phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声). Officially adopted as the simplified form of 賓 in the Chinese Character Simplification Scheme (《漢字簡化方案》) in 1956.
