Etymology
Ideogrammic compound (會意 /会意): 口 (“mouth”) + 犬 (“dog”) – to bark. From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *baus (“to bark”); cognate to Mizo bauh (“to bark”) (Schuessler, 2007, 2024). Ultimately onomatopoeic.
